Jane Morris Udovic grew up in Alliance, Ohio. She attended college in Washington, DC, where she majored in International Affairs at George Washington University's School of Government. Following family tradition that dates back to her grandfather, she graduated from Case Western Reserve University Law School in Cleveland, OH. After working in private practice for one year, she pursued a twenty-year career as a government lawyer in Washington, DC.

In her free time, she chose to use her writing skills to pursue something she had loved as a child...writing poetry. She joined The Writer's Center, where she took a class entitled Writing for Children, taught by award-winning children's book author, Mary Quattlebaum. After being invited to participate in Mary's advanced seminars, she published numerous poems in children's magazines, including Ladybug and Hopscotch. Her first picture book, Aunt Matilda's Almost Boring Party, was published in September, 2009 by Front Street, an imprint of Boyds Mills Press. It was illustrated by her brother-in-law, David Udovic, who also illustrated several of her published poems.

Jane and her husband, Terry, a scientist and also a native of Ohio, have spent most of their adult lives in Washington. They have one son, Andrew. Jane is a member of both the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and The Writer's Center. You can find out more at her website, www.janemorrisudovic.com.
